Practice English speaking with real people
Grammar apps can’t teach you to think on your feet. A few minutes of real conversation with a stranger can. And because it’s voice-only and anonymous, there’s no pressure.

Why strangers are great speaking partners
With friends you fall back on your first language. With a stranger who only shares English with you, you have to keep going — which is exactly how fluency builds. And if a call goes badly, tap Next: nobody knows who you are.
A simple routine that works
- Set your language to English and add the interest “language exchange” to meet other learners.
- Aim for three short calls a day rather than one long one.
- Prepare two or three opening questions (see our conversation starters guide).
- After each call, note one word or phrase you wished you knew — and look it up.
- Don’t worry about mistakes. Most people you meet are learners too.
Interview and IELTS practice
Practising for an interview, IELTS or a presentation? Tell the stranger upfront and ask if they would ask you a few questions. Many people are happy to help — and you get practice answering someone unpredictable.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a language course?
+
No — it is real conversation practice with real people. It works best alongside whatever you use to learn vocabulary and grammar.
Will native speakers be there?
+
You may meet native speakers and fellow learners. Choosing English plus the “language exchange” interest helps you find people who enjoy practice conversations.
I’m shy. Is that okay?
+
Absolutely. Nobody sees your face or knows your name, and you can end a call at any time. Many people find voice-only calls much less stressful than video.
